Catherine E. Kelly is associate professor of history at the University of Oklahoma. She earned her B.A. from the University of California at Santa Barbara (1982) and her PhD from the University of Rochester (1992). Cathy is the author of the prize-winning book In the New England Fashion: Reshaping Women's Lives in the Nineteenth Century (Cornell University Press, 1999) and the co-editor (with Heidi Brayman Hackel) of Reading Women: Literacy, Authorship, and Culture in the Atlantic World, 1500-1800 (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2008). Her recent research has been funded by institutions such as the McNeil Center for Early American Studies, Winterthur Museum and Library, the American Antiquarian Association, and the Oklahoma Humanities Council. Cathy is currently completing a study of visual culture in the early national United States.
